a neutral day

began the day by waking up without an alarm- plus
lost buddha at the gym- minus

went to the Utah game and BYU prevailed- plus

worked for 3 1/2 hours post-game, sweeping. seriously, do people have seizures when eating popcorn? I am beginning to wonder... - minus

finding 5 dollars while trudging through Marriott muck- plus

having to walk home in the snow and being too lazy to change out of my wet jeans now- plain pitiful

and tomorrow is SUNDAY though so I don't have to do anything. glorious!

Wisdom Wednesday

January is a pretty dreary month- everyone knows that.
However, my January this year has actually not sucked that much!
Probably because things like this happen.
WW 47-Meet Slice.
Alright, if you stalk me enough, you know I work my fair share of morning shifts at the Marriott Center, and it's a little.... dull. I think that basically goes without saying.
Anyways, you might wonder who this pizza mascot is/ what he's doing at the Marriott Center early in the morning etc, etc. Well, Slice is the Papa John's pizza mascot who goes to all the basketball games, and gives free pizza to a random row of students during each game.
Anyways, Slice lives in the cheerleading storage room in the Marriott, and one day when we were cleaning up, Jill and I found Slice! We jumped for joy! It was the best thing that had happened to us all day! (Granted, it was probably 6:30 AM) Anyways, she persuaded me to put on the costume, and right as she went to take a picture with her camera, her phone died. It was such a sad day!
HOWEVER. Our luck changed last week, when again we were cleaning first level. This time Jill's phone was ready to capture this choice image. So I did it- I jumped in the pizza costume, we snapped a pic, and right as I was taking off the costume my manager walked it.
This was the best part- you see, the managers at the Marriott could care less what we are doing as long as we are out of their sight most days. They hardly ever come check on us, and so when Dale walked in and said, "is that a pizza I see?" it was totally unexpected. We just laughed, he shook his head, and then left. Probably to go finish his Big Gulp.
Oh Marriott Center- we should make a movie.

greetings from the Marriott

So, I'm working right now...
I clean for a couple hours, and then now I am spending the rest of my shift sitting on this couch in the basketball arena, doing my homework.
no wonder the 5:30- 8:30 shifts fill up so fast.

Wisdom Wednesday

Current satiety? Starving!
good thing this is simmering on the stove. 9 more minutes.
Seems these days food is constantly on my mind... it's probably because I'm doing nutrition reading constantly this week.
However, don't get me wrong, it's a good thing.
WW46- you are what you eat. so take NDFS 100.
It's been 2 1/2 weeks into semester, and I already feel like I know a ton about the good ol' food guide, I can distinguish between an RDA and a UI, I could tell you what nutrients can be found in legumes (and what they are), and I could tell you all the reasons why you've got gas. hehe.
Anyways, what I am getting at? So far, nutrition is the best class of the semester, which is promising, seeing as I am leaning toward a career combining travel + cooking + more food + telling people to get off their pompis.

He was my 5th grade hero

... and not a lot has changed.

that's what I'm thinking about today

It pays to tweet

I spy with my little eye.... MY NAME!
that's right, I was chosen as the slab pizza follower of the day today on twitter, and that meant me + Logan + free pizza = dinner.
It was huge. You just can't tell in this picture...
and it tasted like cardboard, but alas, that didn't stop me from eating 4 pieces.
I love me some free food.
now it's off to Gold's to run off those some calories and get some abs!

PS- today I learned about nutrient density in my nutrition class. I am now obsessed with calculating the nutritiousness of my food.
I also learned that chocolate chips aren't not very nutrient dense. Seeing as I am currently addicted to them, it was a sad realization.

Wisdom Wednesday

Something momentous happened today- the sun shone.
I knew it was going to be a good day when I could actually see shadows for once... it was euphoric.
As for wisdom.... it's easier expressed in a photo.
WW45-
why of course I will accept this rose!
Yep, that's right.. the Bachelor is on, and that means crowding around Jordan's laptop every week, doing the girl squeal and drinking up the drama. It is dumb... and it is so addicting. You won't understand until you partake.
... and the votes are in: the girls of Bowen are team Tenley

yummm

will someone please tell me why I didn't see THIS before I went grocery shopping today???
I have a feeling the creamery doesn't have white wine vinegar. or barley.
... is it a coincidence my grandma asked me if I ate barley today? haha

post script: I am thinking about changing my major. Again. I just want to cook, eat, write, and run. Is there a career for that?

Wisdom Wednesday

Currently:
sitting at the 2nd table in the 2nd row of the library, in periodicals. This is the only place in the l(aberinth)ibrary I can find without getting lost.
listening to pandora- Zooey Deschannel, to be exact. It's delightful
Thinking about my lack of fruits and vegetables in my kitchen/diet this week
and my bladder is screaming... but the bathroom is too far.

Plus, I've got a seriously daunting task before me. It's called make heads or tails of 5 syllabi.
WW44- read/write down assignments so I get good grades for this semester.
Spanish, Chemistry, Nutrition, Book of Mormon, and Psychology..... prepare to meet your match.
eek.

Oh, and happy new year, people. I would have written a nice fancy post about my new years resolutions, but I am still in the process of concocting good ones. Right now all I've got is to drink more water. However.... after having a nice H2o bottle for about 4 days, I've already lost it. And drinking all this water makes me really have to pee.

Oh, and prepare for an idea steal... it's about to go down. I saw a 2009 in review blog, and I thought it was a good idea. If no one reads it but me, it'll be okay... I just need to dump out my brain and make sure I actually did things of worth through 09. Here goes!
January- Crafted a paper chain to finish the days of high school & succeeded in sporting extremely dark hair. I though it was a "good idea".
February- My days hinged on Boys' basketball and anticipating college acceptance.
March- Spring Break= Eighteen + luggage + fixing that January "good idea".
April- Robie Creek 1/2... boy oh boy
May- Met the Silver Bullet. Ended public education for.ev.er
June- Graduation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I would put more !, but I think you get the idea) !!! (there, that's enough)
July- Moved to Utah and vegged all day, planning my days around Pilates at Gold's
August- Janitor/ Pre College glee
September- BAM. Hello, BYU
October- Continued the collegiate-ness... and cooked. A lot. (mmmm pumpkin)
November- T-Giving and 48 hours in Boise. Highlight of the month
December- CHRISTMAS. and finals. and 16 days (384 hours) in Boise.

I would just like to say...

GO BSU.
ahhh getting back to my roots feels nice in this stuffy ol' Cougar town.
and a shoutout to Payton and Daddy down in Arizona riding the FUN BUS for 20 hours- make some memories. haha

hi ho, hi ho

it's back to school I go.
Break was FANASTIC. I could go on for days about the splendidness of it all, but I will spare you all the details and just run a few highlights past you...
Hot Springs
Painting
New Years
Christmas
Exploring Boise foothills
Boise's Beautiful Gold's Gym
FOOD.
So now it's back to the daily grind. Yay. (sarcasm there)
But really, so far things have been great. I'm all moved into my new room, I got to sleep til 8:30 and then hit the gym, I don't have class until noon today, and those only go until 2 :) I can handle this. My new roommate is great, and my trooper plant survived 2 weeks with no water. It's magic.
